Ely Senior Center Artist Exhibition
About Us:
The Ely Senior Center is a vibrant gathering space in downtown Ely that hosts a variety of events and activities. We are seeking artists to display and sell their work in our venue, providing a unique opportunity for local and regional artists to showcase their talent.
Exhibition Details:
We offer 10 feet of wall space for up to 10 pieces of two-dimensional artwork (paintings, drawings, photographs) or hangable three-dimensional artwork (no large sculptures). Weight limits: one hook per piece: 30 pounds, two hooks per piece: 60 pounds.
The Ely Senior Center does not take a commission on any sales.
Exhibition durations are based on the following available time slots:
February – April 2025: Cecilia Rolando
May – June 2025
July – August 2025 (including the Blueberry Art Festival weekend)
September – October 2025
November 2025 – January 2026
Blueberry Art Festival: The festival takes place the third weekend in July, during which the Ely Community Center hosts a Blueberry Bazaar on Friday and Saturday. Artists exhibiting during this period can keep their work displayed throughout the event.
Artwork Guidelines:
All work must be ready to hang (framed or, if on canvas, wired for hanging).
Artists must provide their own labels with pricing or a separate price list.
An Artist’s Statement must accompany the exhibit, introducing the artist and their work.
A short bio (maximum 190 characters) is required for social media, programs, and the website.
Work must be aesthetically pleasing, thematically cohesive, and non-controversial (i.e., no obscenity, violence, nudity, or overtly political/religious content).
Exhibition Setup & Removal:
The Ely Senior Center will review submissions and approve selected artists.
Artists are responsible for hanging their work on the agreed-upon date.
At the end of the exhibition period, artists must remove their artwork promptly. If not collected within five days, it will be stored in a designated area. If not collected within 30 days, it will become property of the Ely Senior Center.
Sold pieces may be replaced with new work during the exhibition period.
Sales & Promotion:
The artist is responsible for all sales transactions. The Ely Senior Center will not handle payments or take commissions.
The Ely Senior Center will assist in promoting the exhibition on social media and may work with the artist to schedule an opening or closing reception.
Artists agree to allow the Ely Senior Center to photograph and film the artwork for promotional purposes.
Liability:
The Ely Senior Center is not responsible for any damage, loss, or theft of artwork.
Artists must be 18 years or older to participate.
